EMERGENCY LAW POSTPONED

The Iraqi Government has postponed declaration of the national safety law
that was scheduled to be announced in a news conference. A spokesman at
the cabinet office said that postponing the conference was due to security
reasons without giving any further details. Informed sources assured that
the postponing of the new law includes an amnesty to fighters who carried
guns unofficially and they should deliver their guns to the government.
$ 500,000 COMPENSATIONS TO MARTYRS
FAMILIES

The coalition authority has allocated $ 500,000 before handing over of
sovereignty to be given as compensations to families of martyrs at Baghdad
Council whom relatives were assassinated.Omer Al-Rahabani, the head of the
council, said that they allocated $10,000 for each family.
6 BASES FOR IRAQI NEW
ARMY

The ministry of Defense has recently decided to establish 6 bases for the
Iraqi new army. In respect to borders, Lieutenant General Amer Al-Hashemi
said that there is a specific department affiliated to the Interior
Ministry directs the border patrols in cooperation with the Army forces
and national guards.Al-Hashemi assured that all contracts the coalition
forces signed that includes providing the Iraqi army is still valid and
these materials are arriving to the army units in an organized way.
ALAWI TO TOUR ARAB COUNTRIES

As-Sabah has learned that the Prime Minister Iyad Alawi will visit some
Arab countries for the first time as Iraq's premier, perhaps to Kuwait,
Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt.An informed source at the Premier office
said that they didn't specify the countries Alawi suppose to visit.
317 DETAINEES RELEASED

317 detainees at Abu Ghreib Prison were released yesterday, 47 of them are
from Baghdad. This is the seventh group which released from Abu Ghreib
prison. Chieftains Association is working on organizing surety to release
another group of prisoners.The association head said that they worked on
releasing the pervious groups by means of guarantee them.
LIEUTENANT COLONEL WAS FORCED TO
RESIGN FOR LEAVING DUTY

The general inspector at the Interior Ministry has decided to force a
lieutenant colonel to resign because he didn't do his job in the right way
and helped a criminal to run away. A source at the General Inspector
Directorate assured that they are investigating with another officer for
he was involved in stealing parts of a car.Also, two other officers were
resigned for not doing their job in the right way.

CREDIT CARD FOR SHOPPING

An Iraqi Company has got a license to issue a credit card for
shopping in Basra province, which is the first thing the Iraqi Banks
Federation does in this respect. Zuhair Ali Akbar, the director of the
Central Bank of Basra, said that this company submitted the studies and
was approved to issue the credit cards. |
