New center for Information and survey
established

A new Social and Information committee has recently been established at
Baghdad University. The center comprises a hose of specialized professors
and instructors whose main job is to educate and enlighten people of the
importance of the electoral process in addition to activating their role
in this direction.Dr Mohammed Al-Attabi, member of the committee, said
that the committee has made a complete conception for the enlightenment
campaign and that it is about to form a center, named "Iraqi Center for
Democracy and Free Elections". This center will take the role of campaign
management and coordination with the parts concerned and then offer
recommendations and results.He further said that the center is consisted
of a cadre specialized in politics and information in addition to an
assistance cadre of employees in computer and translation.Moreover, Dr Al-Attabi
said that the center is also makes polls, complete and partial surveys,
making questions and their classification, data analysis, present results
and release publications dealing with the electoral process, meaning of
democracy, how to practice electoral right and the sheer importance of the
role of the citizen urging him to be very active in acts and opinions.
14-puzzle—corpse of Abdul Kareem Qasem

The corpse of Abdul Kareem Qasem, the leader of 14 July Revolution
1958, was unveiled. This solved the 14-year old puzzle that bewildered all
people in Iraq. Bakhtyar Ameen, the Minister of Human Rights, said before
three months, we found a graveyard in one of Baghdad districts three
months ago include the corpse of Abdul Kareem Qasem, Fadhel Al-Mahdawi,
and other five bodies from the accompanied people. Ameen did not announce
the place of the graveyard and he promised that the grave would be known
soon. He assured that genes and criminal tests on the corpse to make sure
that it really belong to Abdul Kareem Qasem and the others. On the other
hand, Seif Al-Khayat, the director of news in Dijla Radio assured that he
received information from Mr. Najeh Naji three months ago confirms that
there is a graveyard outside Baghdad include Abdul Kareem Qasem corpse.
Al-Yawir: Federal Court established
soon

Iraqi President Ghazi Al-Yawir has recently said that Iraqi federal court
will soon be established.In a press conference held yesterday morning, his
Excellency said that this court will deal with the controversial cases
between federal authorities and the central authority. It will also tackle
legal dispute between the executive and legislative authorities confirming
that the court's members will be chosen from the Supreme Judicial Council
and that no political party is allowed to interfere in the court
formation.
Mechanisms to activate land
transportation movement between Iraq, Jordan

Representatives of transportation sector in Iraq and Jordan
have lately agreed upon finding regular mechanisms to guarantee the
arrival of shipment and safety of the drivers in addition to guaranteeing
the rights of the transporters between the two countries and establishing
an engagement office to document the presence of the driver inside the
country in both coming in and out.During a meeting held in Amman recently,
the two sides confirm the importance of taking all procedures surmounting
the transport difficulties between the two countries and offering means of
relaxation and safety to the transporters especially under the hard
conditions that Iraq is passing through.
Rare drugs for Iraqi pregnant women

Iraq's Ministry of Health has asked a number of pharmaceutical companies
in the world to supply Iraq with the medicines and drugs that are
insufficient in Iraq.Dr Abdul Wadud Al-Talibi, director general of the
General Company for drugs marketing and medical requirements, said that
the company approached many international drug companies to supply it
immediately with "N T D" injections during the coming week to treat the
blood differences between the mates. This injection should be given to the
mother right after giving birth to the first infant.
Increase in electricity supply in
Baghdad except for four areas

Iraq's Ministry of Electricity has commenced to put into effect the new
program of regular cutoffs (four hours of power connection and two-hour
cutoffs) in Baghdad through entering new electrical units. An authorized
source in the ministry said that this little bit improvement in
electricity led to increase in the supply areas indicating that two areas,
from the Karkh side, and two other areas , from Risafa side, will remain
adopting the previous program ( three hours of electricity and three hours
of cuts).The ministry called upon the people to decrease the amounts of
power consumption in order to increase the areas that have power supply.
42 oil projects to be implemented next
year

Oil Projects Directorate at the Ministry of Oil has recently implemented
setting up gas pipes and digging new oil wells, in addition to building
new refineries. Engineer Thamer Abbas Al-Ghadhban, the Minister of Oil,
said that the ministry's plan for the year 2005 includes carrying out 42
projects in all provinces.He assured the ministry of Oil is free and no
one can affect its decisions and work for the best of Iraq, indicating
that they refuse dealing with intermediates and no side is privileged, but
they depend on the international companies and the big countries which own
developed refineries. Also, the ministry has put the cornerstone for a new
fuel station at Baghdad University, in Jadriya. Dr. Hussein Ali, the
director of the Distributing Oil products, said that this is the first
station is built since many years ago and aim to provide both students and
professors with fuel.
A truce between multinational forces
and Abi Ghraib tribes

The multinational forces have signed an agreement with tribes
living in Abi Ghraib district to maintain security and avoid clashes with
the two sides. Sheik Najem Hussam Al-Duleimi, chief of National
Association said that the agreement says that the Multinational forces
should not crack down houses and not to arrest any one. He added it
forbids cracking down the mosques and allow people in mosques to keep four
guns. The agreement assured that the tribes should take part in
reconstructing the city and 90% of workers should be Iraqis. |
