Baghdad and other Iraqi provinces have witnessed the 1st
democratic process after the collapse of the ex-regime .That process is
representing in the Iraqi national conference for electing 1000 members,
then to choose 100 members who constitute members of the national
association .Notably, more than 80 parties were banned by the preparatory
committee of the conference, the news agencies said.The invitation
addressed to 50 parties out of 135 ones representing the Iraqi political
trends. The Muslim Clerics Board rejected participation in the conference,
preferred participation in other popular conference held on the fringe of
the national conference on condition representing the social, cultural and
political segments opposing the conference in Iraq.
PAYING SALARIES OF DISSOLVED

A source at the advisory committee of the dissolved presidency office said
that the salaries for three months i.e May, June and July will be paid for
the personnel of agricultural, management and hospitality departments
starting from 31st July until 9th August.

Dr. Sami Abdul Mahdi al- Mudafar the minister of education announced the
ministry's preparation for appointing 5,000 graduates from the educational
institutes and colleges during the 2nd half of this year.In a
press statement, the minister indicated to the ministry's plan for the end
of the year. That plan included different activities for the general
directorates of the ministry.He clarified that the plan included 199
titles for the text books besides other changes in the patriotic and
Islamic education put by the national board for textbooks.The minister
further notified to the ministry's intention for canceling the elite
schools because they reflect the social distinction.
BASRA AIRPORT RESUMES FLIGHT

The Iraqi airliners transporting delegations resumed flight from Basra
international airport.A British military spokesman said that the decision
comes after consultations between Iraqi governmental sides and the British
forces, referring to another decision allowing commercial and transport
planes to work in the said port.
ID 950 MILLIONS FOR IMPROVING WATER
AND SANITATION PROJECTS

The general directorate of the sewerage at the ministry of municipalities
has allotted ID 950 millions for implementing water and sanitation
projects in five cities namely Baghdad, Najaf , Qadissiya , Nineveh and
Diyala.Eng. Thanoon Hassan Ahmed the director general of the sewerage
referred that the ministry started implementation of these projects within
the ministry's investment plan for 2004.He clarified that these projects
include setting new sewerage nets , building filtration centers , fences
and storehouses for the sewerage department besides rehabilitating the old
sewerage networks.
WORK UNDERWAY IN EIGHT AGRARIAN
REFORM PROJECTS

Work is underway in eight projects namely: project of reforming
al-Hussania lands in Kerbala, al-Youssifia lands, Rajab Marsh in Baghdad,
al-Saqlowi project in al-Anbar and al-Souab lands in Basra.The projects
include also Kirkuk Irrigation project in addition to the rehabilitation
and the reconstruction of Sadr al-Qannat building within 2004 investing
plan.An official source at the State Directorate of Irrigation and
Reforming Projects has said that the implementation of such projects
starting with preparing studies, designs, lab tests, and the daily
supervision have been done by Iraqi cadres without depending on foreign
expertise and companies.The implementation operations have been done by
asking the assistance of the ministry formations .
RED CRESCENT SPECIFIES HARMED NEEDS
IN SAMARA

The Iraqi Red Crescent Society Team left Baghdad heading for
Samara in a private visit to get acquainted with general situations
their.This has been declared by an official source at the society, saying
that this team will review all needs of harmed families due the military
operations happened recently in Samara.On the other hand IRAQNA
Establishment, Baghdad-based in cooperation with Red Crescent Society has
delivered food assistances on 150 families resided in Baghdad.'Assam Abdul
Rahman the deputy chief of the mentioned establishment said that these
assistances have being delivered on several families including al-Askan,
al-Washash, al-Huriya and al-Dolae while process of delivering these
assistances will be done on other neighbors in Baghdad.
MENTALLY RETARDED TO BE INCLUDED WITH
SALARIES

A study prepared by Social Welfare Department at Labor and Social
Affairs Ministry has proposed including mentally retarded and Mongols with
salaries granted by Welfare Department. A well-informed source at welfare
department said that the study has been submitted to the cabinet in order
to be approved. The study includes 13 new situations in the society in
field of social welfare to be included with welfare salaries. Notably the
Social Welfare Department is going on delivering welfare salaries for May,
June and July by giving ID 30, 000 for each included family per month. |
