US FORCES BREAKS INTO  NAJAF, FIERCE FIGHTING IN OTHER IRAQI CITIES

Two days ago, a number of Iraqi cities witnessed ferocious fighting the violent of which is in Najaf.Dr. Salama al- Khafaji the member of the executive bureau for the Shiite house said that the US forces violated truce between Mahdi army and the US forces after bombing Al- Sadr house and killing four of his bodyguards.In a statement to As-Sabah, Al- Khafaji said that the US forces backed by Najaf's governor Adnan al-Zarqi and the National Guard forces passed the  red lines .She demanded the Iraqi government to play a role in ending the crisis . Notably, Al- Khafaji demanded negotiations for solving the crisis. She confirmed that Al- Sadr announced truce from one part and demanded his supporters in case they subjected to fire to be in defensive position rather than offensive position.Meanwhile, a number of Iraqi cities witnessed fierce fighting between Al- Mahdi army and the multi national forces.Najaf witnessed violent US bombing paralyzed the city ,left it in darkness without electricity , waters or communications the matter pushed Mahdi army deploying in the city . The US bombing caused damages in Imam Ali shrine.Moreover, ThiQar province witnessed fighting between elements of Mahdi army and the Italian forces since Friday dawn.Meanwhile Basra and Amara witnessed fighting with the British forces in Baghdad. The city of Al- Sadr witnessed fierce fighting with the US forces until Saturday morning. 

INVESTMENT PROGRAM FOR EMPLOYING UNEMPLOYED IN SOUTHERN CITIES

The British ministry of development has announced about investment program in southern Iraq aiming to make available a large number of work opportunities by the end of 2004.Mr. Gareth Tomas the MP representative of the international development affairs in UK said that the program aims to establish projects including construction works and others for supporting irrigation, water and sanitation .The media report issued by the ministry indicated that the program is offering real aids for the unemployed in the southern region in coordination with the municipality councils .Notably, the UK ministry of development issued a plan related to Iraq , allotted $ 120 millions for reconstructing Iraq , concentrating on the southern regions . 

EARTHQUAKE IN NASSIRIYA

The cities of Rifaee , al- Qal'a and Fajr have exposed to an earthquake specifically at 1:00 P.M and continued for six seconds .The population reported that the sudden earthquake was followed by four others respectively within half an hour, saying this phenomenon is occurred for the first time.As-Sabah reporter said that the population scared by the earthquake, forced to leave their houses and stay outside for fear the other violent earthquake.The earthquake caused the collapse of some houses and damages in other ones.Dr. Adel Makki from Nassiriya University attributed these earthquakes to the earthquakes occurred in Iran.
