$ 200 MILLIONS FOR ELECTRICITY IN
NAJAF

The reconstruction committee at the Shiite endowments has allocated 10
billions Iraqi dinars for the project of enlarging Imam Ali Shrine .
Notably , the committee supervising Najaf project obtained $ 200 to
achieve the 3rd stage of Najaf electricity generation gas
station .Mr. Adnan al-Zarfi the governor of Najaf said that the plan of
reconstructing the city includes enlarging the outer spaces surrounding
the shrine 90 meters.He said that the reconstruction committee that
established by the cabinet ministers is studying the sponsored means to
remove institutes and buildings to be able in implementing and
rehabilitating the project to be large and wide enough for large numbers
of visitors .On his part, Mr. Majid Jibreen the chief supervising
committee said that the fulfillment of the 3rd stage of Najaf
electricity station will secure 90 megawatt.
NEW GENERATORS TO SUPPORT ELECTRICITY
SYSTEM IN BAGHDAD

The ministry of electricity is determined to buy small diesel and gas
generators 400 megawatt to be connected with the electricity distribution
stations in Baghdad.An official source said that these generators are to
be used to cover the peak carriages ; will be set up during three months
after getting agreements for allotting the necessary sums from the cabinet
ministers.The source promised to secure these generators as an important
step to cover part of the shortage in the quantity of electricity energy
production.On the other hand, the source announced that the ministry of
electricity is going on implementation of its plans aiming to improve
situation of the electricity system through maintenance and rehabilitation
works besides dissolving crowd in the electricity network.
NATIONAL ASSEMBLY APPROVES MECHANISM
FOR ADOPTING DECISIONS

The National Assembly has approved fixed mechanism in adopting the
decisions.The members approved the necessity of adopting any decision by %
51 of the attendants in which their numbers should be equal to three folds
the members.The voting process includes the decisions that adopted by the
national assembly.That decision came within the provisions of the internal
system of the assembly.The assembly approved the city of Baghdad as a city
for holding periodical meetings in the ordinary situations that could be
changed into other province if necessary.
100,000 COMPUTERS TO IRAQ FROM ITALY

The Italian government agreed on supporting the Iraqi universities by
sending 100,000 computers in addition to photocopiers and lab equipment.
Dr. Mohammed Kadhum Al-Attabi, the director of follow up at Baghdad
University, said that a delegation from the university visited Tunisia to
discuss the arrival of the Italian grant to the Ministry of Higher
Education & Scientific Research which is 300 million Euros since the GIS
Tunisian Company is going to implement the Tunisian grant. He added that
the grant includes providing the dormitories with furniture and electric
equipment. The delegation that visited Tunisia included Dr. Taqi Al-Mousawi,
the president of Baghdad University, and Suleiman Al-Mukhtar, the director
of Exporting Department at the Ministry of Higher Education.
BIGGEST KIDNAPPING GANG IN THE GRIP
OF POLICE

A criminal police source said that they captured the biggest kidnapping
gang professional in kidnapping the prominent personalities , the
government's officials, and scientists to be released after paying a big
ransom. The source added that the gang admitted kidnapping 8 personalities
and released them after paying a ransom that reached $10,000. He assured
that the gangsters were prisoners in 2002 ,they were included in the
pardon of Saddam regime. The source promised to uncover the relation of
this gang with the kidnapping crimes happened against the Iraqi famous
doctors.
KOREA WISHES TO TAKE PART IN
RECONSTRUCTING IRAQ

South Korea expressed desire to activate the Korean grant which is
$2 billion and the possibility of getting benefit of in developing the
construction projects .The Korean ambassador said , in a meeting with
engineer Omer Al-Farooq Al-Damloji, the Minister of Construction &
Housing, that the Korean companies are ready to take part in building the
residential compounds. He also expressed Korean willingness to exchange
expertise and training the Iraqi cadres.
NAJAF GOVERNOR "THE POLICE CONTROLS
THE SITUATION"

Mr. Ali Al-Shaibani, the Najaf Deputy Governor for Security
affairs, said that Najaf is living now a quiet condition after the end of
the military operations there and after the intervention of Ayatollah Ali
As-Sistani and put an end to the fighting there. Al-Shaibani added that
police patrols in the province have a clear effect on the stability of the
situation. As regards providing the security for the holy shrines, he said
that two police stations has been established in the old city near Imam
Ali Shrine in addition to a police station in the city of Kufa. He also
said that the police are doing their best to implement the instructions of
the religious authority and there is no sign of instability in the city.
CEASELESS ELECTRICITY SUPPLY FOR 3
DISTRICTS IN BAGHDAD

Al-Rusafa Electricity Directorate will achieve an experiment to
transmit electricity starting from Sept 6th to District No.
318, al-Batween and al-Khalafa'a residential compounds for 24 hours.The
Engineer Nafi' Abdul Sadaa the Director-General of al-Rusafa Electricity
Directorate said that the experiment makes it necessary for the citizens
to be abided by 50%. electricity rationalization. He indicated if
citizens are abided by the rationalization ratio , they will be supplied
with ceaseless electricity , referring that Al- Rusafa electricity
directorate was carried out similar experiments in another districts but
it did not announce the level of the accomplished success.On the other
side, the directorate is implementing a wide campaign for rehabilitating
electricity net and prevents violations.On the same level the citizens
said that the directorate must mobilize its efforts in the city of al-Sadr
that subjected for severe damages in addition to the numerous cuts in al-Habibia
district No. 535.
REAL ESTATE BANK LOANS CITIZENS

The Real estate Bank has released its loans worth of (ID 6
millions) to Iraqi citizens and personals starting from Sept 1.The
Director-General of the Bank Farooq Mohammed Himma al-Amari said that the
loan will range between ID 2-4 millions for the beneficiaries of the 1st
loan which released during the former regime, confirming that paying the
loans for the employees will reach to ID 37, 000 per month will be
discounted from their salaries, while another citizens a portion of ID
444,000 annually will be discounted with a benefit worth of 8% from the
loan's value will be discounted as soon as the loan will be
received.Al-Amari indicated that the loans allotted by the Housing and
Construction Ministry reach to $200 millions to loan citizens to build
residential houses according to the conditions and procedures of the bank,
clarifying that the proposed benefit for this loan will range between 1-3%
on condition that this loan will be paid in monthly installments over 25
years for personnel and annual installments for another citizens. |
