VIOLENT CLASHED IN CITY OF
AL- THAWRA

Dr. Iyad Allawi the chief Iraqi government said that his government is
keen to build an independent Iraq , referring to the importance for all
political and social forces to be ready for the elections.During his
meeting with a number of armed groups , Allawi said that these groups have
not plans for achieving their ambitions , but they maneuver by claiming
to end the foreign military presence in Iraq.Allawi demanded these groups
who are not involved in criminal acts to prepare the suitable atmosphere
necessary for the elections.He expressed astonishment over targeting the
infrastructure, oil installations and Iraqi economy.Meanwhile, the US
tanks penetrated the city of Thuwra until late hours of Tuesday and
clashed with the elements of Al- Mahdi army.News sources indicated to
fierce clashes in the city of Thuwra left behind 33 dead, and 193 injured
, according to health ministry early statistics.
MOST IRAQIS PREFER CENTRAL

The general polls held by different parties and centers interested in
studying the directions of the Iraqi public opinion indicated that the
majority of Iraqi people % 84,56 prefer strong central government in
Baghdad while % 56,26 prefer a government in Baghdad consisted of
representatives of different regions , nationalities , tribes and Iraqi
sects.The polls added that % 55,7 support granting great authorities for
the Iraqi regions . Finally about 63,3 are willing to dissolve the central
government and connect Iraqi regions with treaties .The polls are further
indicated that the majority of Iraqi people % 06,56 prefer an integrated
Iraq . Meanwhile, 80,7 said that Iraq is an Arab country on the 1st
position . The majority of Iraqi people held the government grand
responsibility in interesting in the citizens' causes.
UN GROUP FOR TREATING
CRISES : UNEMPLOYMENT IS FEEDING VIOLENCE IN IRAQ

The international group for treating crises warned against the
accumulation of unemployment in Iraq that may motivate violence.In a
distributed report titled "unemployment is feeding insurgency" , the group
said that there is a misleading direction in concentrating on
non-stability in Iraq and the spread of violence besides looking for
Iraq's economic causes as if insignificant .The report said that the
economic collapse, criminal activities and political violence are
connected causes since the unemployment is activating insurgency which in
turn destabilizes the economic development. The report shed light on
mistakes committed in the course of the reconstruction process in post
–Saddam period until now.The report indicated to the continuity of living
standards deterioration which will make Iraqi institutions incredible.
BUILDING 1824 RESIDENTIAL
UNITS

The ministry of housing and construction said it has realized important
leaps in building four residential compounds including 1824 residential
units at a cost 49 billions Iraqi dinars as a total cost.Mr. Muhammed
Farhan the director of mass-communications at the ministry said that Al-
Mansour contracting state company is going on the implementation of the
residential compound in Sab' Abkaar district in Baghdad . That project is
housing 288 residential units at a cost more than 7 billions Iraqi dinars
.The compound is distinguished in two kinds of units which are
different in the design, but the area is similar. The achievement rate is
amounted % 16 .
IRAQI FOREIGN MINISTRY SLAMS
KIDNAPPING FRENCH JOURNALISTS

Mr. Hoshiar Zibari the minister of foreign affairs announced that
the scheduled visit of President Ghazi al- Yawar to France has postponed
in order not to contradict with the subject of kidnapping French
journalists and the exerted efforts for releasing them.He indicated to
Iraq's preparedness to offer the possible help for Paris to release the
kidnapped French journalists in Iraq , clarifying that the Iraqi interim
government didn’t want to be involved in a sensitive subject and enter the
negotiations underway between the kidnappers and the French government or
some other parties.At a joint press conference attended also by his
Jordanian counterpart Marwan al- Ma'shaar in Amman , Mr. Zibari clarified
that the Iraqi government deem it is appropriate not to interfere in this
subject in order not to complicate the underway negotiations process
.Meanwhile , the Iraqi foreign ministry has vehemently denounced the
terrorist kidnapping for the French journalists and their Syrian driver .
The foreign ministry issued a statement in which it expressed deep
concern towards the continuity of the detaining , expressing at the same
time its solidarity with the efforts of the French government and all the
organizations and personalities calling for releasing the kidnapped
journalists. |
