DONORS PLEDGE TO OFFER $ 2-3 FOR
HOUSING PROJECTS

Mr. Omar al- Farouq al-Damlouchi the minister of housing and
construction said that the donors have pledged to offer $ 2-3 billions for
financing the reconstruction projects.In a press statement at Tokoyo
donors conference, Al- Damlouchi said that the ministry of housing and
construction is determined to construct 50 residential units within a year
and during the coming ten years to reach more than 2 millions residential
units.Notably, the ministry sought to create financing system from the
national resources for giant housing project.The ministry of housing in
cooperation with ministries of planning and municipalities prepared a
study to survey Iraq's needs for the residential units.The ministry is
abided by carrying out the residential units in different parts of Iraq
including Baghdad relying on the financial allocations of the donors.
Several residential units are under construction.
AL- HAKEEM URGES FOR ELECTIONS IN
SPECIFIC TIME

The chief supreme council of the Islamic revolution Abdul Aziz al-
Hakeem has demanded to make the elections in the specific date as being
promised by the government, parties and the political forces."It is
frustrated matter to postpone the elections owing the security
deterioration" , said Al- Hakeem , affirming that it was important to make
the elections before the creation of the government and the national
assembly.He indicated that the council is preparing to make the elections
or choosing the suitable candidates, clarifying there are host of unfit
laws put by Bremer; and these laws approved after the dissolve of the
Governing Council, before the creation of the Iraqi government and the
transference of sovereignty.Of these laws is the creation of the supreme
commission of the elections that was given tremendous authorities and
considered as a government beside the government.
BAGHDAD COUNCIL ACTIVATES PEACE DEAL
IN CITY OF AL- SADR

A number of prominent figures and institutes in the Iraqi society have
played a main role in activating political and social action. Notably,
Baghdad council held an expanded meeting with the chieftains,
personalities in the city of Al- Sadr and representatives of Al- Sadr
office to activate mechanism of the peaceful agreement in the city.In a
statement to As-Sabah, Sheikh Muhamed Baqir al- Siheel the chief of the
council said that the council is to make contacts with all the government
concerned sides, multi-national forces and the national assembly to
activate the agreement and put it into force as soon as possible in order
to start the reconstruction projects in the city.On the other hand, Mr.
Kareem al- Najatti the chief of the negotiating delegation and
representative of Al- Sadr office said that the government did not
officially reply on the agreement and in the same time rejected to
announce it to the public opinion which is meant it ( government) is not
intended to sign an agreement to maintain security and peace in the region
similar to Falluja ¸Samara and Najaf .
NATIONAL ASSEMBLY TO QUESTION

The national assembly undertakes its most important tasks in reviewing the
government's decisions and question officials in the government, to get
acquainted with their performance and causes and outcomes of failures.High
ranking source at the assembly affirmed that the minister of interior will
be the 1st minister to be questioned about the background of
security deterioration in addition to other accusations in employing his
relatives in new positions at the ministry.Mr. Mish'aan al- Jubouri the
assembly member said that there are several causes that will be discussed
with Falah al- Naqeeb. Among these causes is explaining mechanism of
appointing large group of his relatives without considering basic
restrictions and instructions of the governmental institutions.Al- Jubouri
indicated to the agenda of coming session which will include the economic
dossier and the report of the economic committee in order to submit the
final recommendations to the Iraqi government.

A high ranking delegation from the ministry of trade includes a
number of directors of companies has left Baghdad heading for Amman to
boost bilateral talks and promote economic and commercial relations
between the two brotherly countries besides tackling means of bilateral
cooperation in commercial exchange.Notably, grand part of the commodities
and products are exported from Jordan in addition to the several contracts
for importing detergents and soaps on the trade ministry's account.On the
other hand, well acquainted source said that Indian companies and farms
specialized in planting and canning tea have realized grand profits during
few last months thanks to the grand contracts with the Iraqi ministry of
trade. These contracts stipulates importing high quality of tea from India
that reached to hundreds thousands tons. |
