THREE TRILLIONS DINARS FOR
RECONSTRUCTION PROJECTS IN FOUR CITIES

The cabinet ministers have allocated two billions dollars or equivalent to
300 billions Iraqi dinars for the reconstruction projects in four Iraqi
cities.Dr. Abdul Ukhuwwa al- Timimi the economic committee advisor at the
cabinet indicated to the four cities namely Tikirt , Kirkuk , Diyala and
Suleimaniya , saying that the priority was given to Diyala . About $ 720
millions were allocated for the security and economic projects and the
remaining sum was distributed on three other cities.Al- Timimi clarified
that these prepared projects include repairing water, sewerage and
electricity systems. The projects have been studied by the US 1st
division.He referred to the importance of specifying the allocations for
the southern cities that are still suffering from grand shortages in the
services.Notably, the southern provinces suffered the deterioration of the
infrastructure and the increase of contamination because of the
radioactive materials owing to the weapons used in different southern
parts because of the wars launched by the ex-regime.An official health
sources indicated to the increase of contamination in potable waters which
led to the spread of epidemics among the population particularly the
children.

Latifiya district is well known in Iraq owing to the acts of violence
that occurred daily besides the crack down launched against the executers
of the criminal acts, the latest was the burning of five oil takers that
caused the burning of many civil vehicles. A number of families were
charred to death inside their own vehicles.During its 11th session held on
Monday, the national assembly discussed this important subject .The
session was attended by Dr. Muwafaq al- Rubaiee who refused to speak to
the journalists.Mish'aan al- Jubouri the member of the national assembly
confirmed that a number of officials are involved in gangsters for
plundering the public fund in favor of unknown sides.He referred to the
site situated between the Tigris and Ba'aj hills within Sharqaat region
that became a scene for these operations, adding that other Latifiya
seemed to be appeared on the road Mosul-Baghdad, referring that taking the
hostages and the kidnapping operations increased in these sites . Several
beheaded Arab and foreigners were found near Dhuluiya district in Mosul
road , particularly the road is trodden daily by a number of vehicles
coming from the Turkish triangle northern Iraq . The T. V tapes dispatched
by Arab satellites reflected images on these operations in which Jihad and
unification group headed by Al- Zarqawi declared responsibility on. The
political observers affirmed that these groups received intensive training
courses in Afghanistan in 2000-2001, and then received financial support
from a number of foreign parties to implement these training in Iraq and
create terrorist centers for these terrorist groups in the middle,
northern and the southern Iraq such as the Wind, Latifiya.
PRIVATE SECTOR PERMITS TO
CONSTRUCT CEMENT FACTORIES

The Ministry of Industry and Minerals has prepared investment dossiers to
encourage the private sector in establishing new cement factories to
compete the state sector and pay taxes in return, to get benefit of the
sites specified by the Ministry of Industry and Minerals for specific
period.Taha Ismaeel the supervisor on the promotion and industrial
investment at the Ministry of Industry and Minerals said that a number of
sites were selected for establishing these factories in which the raw
materials and the electricity energy availability and the flexibility of
transportation were put into consideration.He added that the ministry is
aiming from this initiative to cover the needs of Iraqi people for this
vital construction material particularly in Iraq which witness giant
reconstruction projects.
MILITARY CAMPS TO BE CHANGED INTO
RESIDENTIAL COMPOUNDS

The cabinet ministers has agreed on changing the military camps in Baghdad
and other cities into a residential compounds to be distributed on the
population.Eng. Iyad al- Safi the Municipality Undersecretary said that
the ministry formed a committee to specify the sites that situated within
the basic designs of Baghdad and other cities to get benefit of in the
residential compounds. He clarified that among the specific sites for this
purpose are Rasheed military camp and the camps situated in Harithiya
district that belonged to the pervious National Guard as they are part of
Baghdad borders.Notably, statistics indicated to Iraq's need for hundreds
thousands of residential units to solve the residential crisis
particularly the shortage in the residential units reached to two millions
in comparison to the population increase over the last three decades . |
