PM Noori Maliki oversaw a new security plan in Basra province without advanced declaration to chase armed gangs and prepare good conditios to carry out service projects
and reconstruction in this province that saw since long time deteriorated security situations and neglect at services.
Military forces still arrice to the city since last Sunday when Interior Minister Jawad Bolani visited the city with senior security delegation, one of them is operations center head Maj. Gen. Abdulkareem Khalaf who said at press statement that this attack wouldn’t target any party or movement.
Basra saw many assassinations against security forces, clerics and scientific experts, as well as absence traffic laws and rising unofficial armed groups.
PM Maliki held once he arrived to Basra yesterday closed security meeting with army and police's commanders in the province and attended by Defense, Interior and National Security Ministers and absence Mayor and the province council's members.
PM ordered launching the operation "Knights' Assault", as the operation's command decided imposing curfew and stopping all studies until further notice and closing land borders for three days, Maj. Khalaf said
